"BOTANIC PARK, ADELAIDE" with a man standing by the small waterfall, monochromatic green postcard printed in England for Rigby Ltd., circa 1912, much writing on back, minor wear at one corner. $4.00 sw
"King William Road, Anglican Cathedral and government House Entrance, Adelaide" monochromatic green post card with red-brown caption, mailed circa 1905 but stamp removed. lightly toned back, a little cancel ink on front, corner crease, corner & edge wear. $4.75 sa
"NORTH TERRACE, ADELAIDE, SOUTH AUSTRALIA" unused sepia-tone real photo postcard with glossy finish & low contrast, back states 'Issued by the Government of the Commonwealth of / Australia to the Officers and Men of the American Fleet / July - August 1925', tiny album adherence near one back corner, good edges. $6.00 sh Historical note: After World War I, a treaty among the 3 major naval powers left the United States without bases in the Western Pacific region--unlike the other powers. Great Britain & Japan. Concern about the relative proximity of Japanese bases on their home islands (roughly 1/5 the distance of Pearl Harbor) caused the US to project its power & maintain a presence in the region by using the only option it had available--cruises in force during the 1920's. Australia, understandably among the nervous about the nearby Japanese, thus welcomed the US naval visits, as this postcard attests.
O'CONNOR AIRLINES. Continental black-and-white Ilford real photo post card showing its Cessna 441 (VH-OAA) near a hangar, good composition & focus, contrast just a bit low. This airline is based at Mount Gambier South Australia, and the photo must be 1982 or earlier. Rare. $5.00 as
SKYLINK. Continental black&white photograph showing its Piper PA-31 on the ground, good contrast & focus. This airline was regional in character, serving South Australia. Rare. $5.00 as

Series" picturing the 16 different Victorian definitive stamps of South Australia & its heraldic crest, unused intricately embossed postcard, trivial wear at 2 corners, very light toning & the lightly pencilled word 'Australia' (will probably come off with a soft eraser) in the front message area, fairly fresh. $13.00 psh-s
