Oregon Coast H'wy 75 / MELS" showing several cards parked near a complex of businesses--an aquarium, a tavern, Depoe Bay Store (General Merchandise), Crabs Standard Oil Products, Jiffy Lunch, Garage & Coca Cola; real photo postcard that will make you get out your magnifying glass; mailed JUL 12 1941 (PORTLAND & S. F. N. D. R.P.O. cancel clearly struck) to Dr. Maud Bell in Lincoln Nebraska. US 1. "'Joe', baby Chimpanzee at / Rare bird Farm, Miami, Florida" with his trainer Frances Freeman helping him balance on a bicycle, postcard mailed MAY 28 1951 at Miami. More precisely, the farm was located 10 miles south of Miami on US 1 in Kendall Florida. The farm is now defunct, replaced by heavy commercial development. A chimpanzee from this roadside attraction, Enos not Joe, was the first in space. Hard to find! Route No. 1 / 2 Miles South of ALEXANDRIA, VA. / 5055-29" showing its central group of bungalows, circa-1929 post card with much later mailing at Rhoadesville Virginia, trivial wear to the top corners, tiny bottom corner crease, light toning near the left front edge. Check your albums; they put out many different, but the word 'bungalows' on the back was contrary to the image they wanted to project. So not many of these exist. $3.75 v(a)mr

US 5. "TOTO'S ZEPPELIN. SMITH'S FERRY (Holyoke), MASS." on US 5 between Northhampton and Holyoke, a restaurant & bar owned by Salvatore 'Toto' LoBello, unused post card on thin stock, very light toning. After its 1934 fire (causing the previous owner to sell) but before 19 November 1938 when it was completely destroyed by fire. It had many notable visitors in its brief existence, including JFK before he became Senator. Truly rare: we found no other offers, no recorded sales & no exhibits when we searched the Internet. "Rockin Chair Park. / Shepherd, Mich." showing an eye-catching lawn ornament roadside display of the tourist novelty store operated by 'Clint' Allen on Federal Road, just west of Shepherd, in the early 1950's; unused Devolite Peerless real photo postcard with good edges, slight curl to the paper (no problem in an album). The main reason this view is hard-to-find is because the business was moved to Houghton Lake after US 27 was re-routed, drying up its traffic. $9.00 m(s)rg

This / popular West Coast Attraction is located on U.S. / Highway 41 North, in Sarasota, Florida" You read right --Sarasota, not Peru Indiana. This unused chrome post card shows a chimpanzee act in progress at the first Circus Hall of Fame, which survived only from 1956 to 1977. $7.50 cf(s)r

"THE LEWIS PLANTATION AND TURPENTINE STILL / ON U.S. 41 - BROOKSVILLE, FLA. l-747" the sign shown pointing the way to its cottages & dining room; unused circa-1947 Ekc real photo postcard, noticeable toning in the front center sky. This bizarre roadside ghost recreated the Southern Plantation of the 1800's for the amusement of visitors, replete with every stereotypical black--slaves, mammies, pickaninnies, etc. Now vacant and overgrown, it was a disgusting piece of social history.
