Echt Foto 72 Schöpfer der Oktavgeige" showing the old violin maker Johann Reiter at work in his Bavarian factory, real photo postcard with interesting composition & exemplary contrast, deckled edges as issued. The instrument name is sometimes seen as Oktav-Geige, and very few were ever made. It is shaped like a cello, but is the size of a 17" viola, with a narrow chinrest, and it can be played with a cello or viola bow. Strauss 2462, back paper browning evenly with age (circa 1910), good edges. Stabenfest is a local celebration in May that dates back into the 15th century. All school children & their teachers march in a parade with staffs (Staben) decorated with flowers, ribbons & flags. For some reason it is an uncommon subject for postcards. $20.00 bfggp

Message area on back bears replicas of important cancel & cachets. Advertising text in the address area is in German: 'Graf Zeppelin-Luftschiff Flugpost-Karten / geflogen von und nach Moskau, Tokio, Los Angeles, / New York, Sevilla, Rio de Janeiro usw., kurz gesagt / alle zeppelins verkauft, kauft und tauscht / dauernd der Zeppelinpost-Spezialist / Otto Edenharter, München 19, Frundsbergstr. 44 / Schreiben sie mir bitte ihre Wünsche! Preislisten kostenfrei.' Which translates roughly: '...
